BALTIMORE, MD–(Marketwired – May 06, 2019) – The Bellingham Real Estate Association announced today that it has signed a letter of intent to purchase and redevelop the former T.B.J.L. House at 528 South Street.
The deal was announced by Mayor Bill Bolling and President and CEO John L. Wolk as part of the mayor’s “Buy Our Homes” campaign.
The new project will feature an 800,000-square-foot mixed-use building with over 1,000 rental units, a public market, a restaurant and other amenities.
“The Bellingham Realty Association is proud to partner with a local real estate company to build an iconic landmark that will serve as a catalyst for the future revitalization of the area,” said Mayor Bolling.
“This is a historic moment for Bellingham, and we look forward to continuing to bring the residents of Bellingham back to the city.”
The Bellahoas development, which will be completed in the spring of 2021, will feature a new state-of-the-art, 3,000 square-foot public market.
The development will include a newly designed and remodeled parking garage and will feature amenities such as bike lanes, landscaping, and public markets.
Bellingham Realtors are in negotiations with a potential partner, but the Bellingham community has expressed its desire to retain the historic property.
“As we continue to explore our options for revitalization in Bellingham and around the region, we look to continue to develop our neighborhoods and our neighborhoods will be the backbone of our future,” said President and COO Wolk.
Wolk also said the new development will be “a major milestone for the city of Bellahoens history and we are grateful to the residents and residents of this great city for their support.”
The Bells have received a $25 million gift from the Bellis’ philanthropic arm, Bellis Foundation.
