The headline is false, and the content is misleading, according to the people who spoke to Recode on the condition of anonymity because they weren’t authorized to speak publicly about the matter.
Recode has not verified the authenticity of the article or its sourcing.
But the people we spoke to said it’s inaccurate and that the company should have used a different headline and/or content.
The article has been shared thousands of times and was shared in the company’s newsletter multiple times.
Recoding found several examples of users commenting on the article, such as this one that reads, “You know how real estate agents are paid?
We’re paid real estate.
This is why.”
Recode found other examples where people shared the same story but with a different title.
One example we found was a post titled “Real Estate Is a Business Not a Profession,” which reads, In real estate there is a lot of money and lots of hype.
That’s why real estate is such a huge business.
“Recoding has not confirmed the authenticity or veracity of the title of this post.
We asked for clarification from the company and received a statement from Real Estate, which said, “Recode’s content is based on factual information that has been independently verified.
It is important to note that Real Estate has not independently verified the claims made in this article.
Real Estate’s content reflects our company’s commitment to accuracy and is published as such.
“We also emailed a representative from the media company.
The representative told Recode, “The piece is inaccurate.
We’re aware of the post and will remove it.
“Recodes spokesperson told us the company did not respond to our requests for comment, and has not updated its website.
A spokesperson for the Real Estate spokesperson said, We are aware of Recode’s post and are taking it down.
We are taking steps to address the content and tone of the Recode piece, which we will share in due course.
